Telling Jokes

Quick note that Lincoln has been teeling jokes now for a week or two. Things that he made up. For example, I'll make up a song that is about him and I'll say something like "I have a boy his name is..." and let Lincoln fill it in. He'll say "Will" (his friend from school) and then look at me slyly until we both laugh at it.

This morning (this isn't really a joke, but requires similar language skills) I asked him which shoes he wanted - Keens, black or blue ones. He said "no shoes". That's never an option - he figured that wording out on his own.

I know parents think their kids are smart - but is it normal for kids to have such a grasp of the language (at 2/ 30 months!!!)?!
