Terrible Twos?

Lincoln has been so irritible and difficult ever since we got back from the trip. Then again, so have Doug and I. Doug got poison ivy the day after we got back. At first we were a little stressed because we thought it was an allergic reaction that wouldn't go away (even the med clinic doctor thought so). Then, his regular doctor accurately diagnosed it as poison ivy/oak and gave him more appropriate medicines. But, the medicines make him a little different (somehow irritible, or something like that) plus, he's a little itchy and a little spotty and just isn't back to his normal self yet (and might not be for a couple weeks)!

I am now in my third trimester and am feeling bigger each day. That's good, because we want the baby to grow and be healthy, but it certainly is draining for me. I'm basically feeling great, but I am uncomfortable nearly the entire time after I get home from work, so that doesn't help us have stability or nurturing at home.

Then, poor little Lincoln got sick. He had a fever that was probably about 100.5, without Motrin, for about 4 or 5 days. If we kept him dosed he was just a little irritible, no fever and no other symptoms. But, Thursday, I didn't give him Motrin before school (because he woke up without a fever) and the Tylenol they gave him just didn't do the trick for the fever. So, he was achy and felt yucky and was just drained. I ended up taking him home before lunch. He was lovey and just felt yucky most of the rest of the day, even after the Motrin and short nap.

We think he's getting ready to cut his two year molars. He's been working on them and struggling with them off and on for a while (maybe even 4-6 weeks). Plus, it's been months since his last teeth came in. So, I'm thinking that this bout of refusing to eat and irritability might be also caused by the teeth getting ready.

Then again, all of his irritability and fits and disagreeablness could just be terrible twos. He's such a good boy so often that the "terribleness" is that much harder. He likes to help, he listens well, he's doing great talking and communicating, and so on. He's a great kid. So when he says he wants a particular food and then we give it to him only to have him throw it and scream and cry is very frustrating and draining.

I'm hoping that being at home and on schedule all week this week will help us figure out if it's just his routine, if it was sick or teeth, or if it's some combination of terrible twos and his knowing the baby's coming and things will change. I'm hoping it's not just one of the latter two and we'll have to figure out a new way of working through things!
