Quick Update

Lincoln's going through a mommy and baby stage right now. He NEEDS a lot of my attention and he often times wants to do things like a little baby (like be carried, crawling - while laughing) and such. Weird timing. I can't think of any reason in Ben's development or in our routine that would cause that. Unless it has something to do with being challenged more in his special classes and at daycare in general and he just wants a break sometimes?

Could be related to Ben being so into everything that it defines our lives. I actually put Ben in his playpen for a while yesterday so Lincoln could have his snack at the table and then Lincoln and I could color. Ben is so obstinate, so into/curious about the garbage, so into climbing (he will try to push Lincoln off his chair so he can climb) that it rules our lives. Plus, Ben can reach over 6 inches onto the table. So, he will go and grab everything he can reach off and throw it on the floor. I am going to have to start making sure that I make more time to do age appropriate things with Lincoln. Guess that explains it more than I thought. :o/

We ended up taking down the gate at the bottom of the stairs. Ben was too fascinated with the gate and getting through it. He could get through the regular latch, the lock that comes with it, the latch, the lock and the clamp that we used for added security, and then the latch, the lock, the clamp, and the book (for greater surface area for the clamp). So, we propped the gate open so it would be such a big deal. But, Ben was still curious and still wanted to shake it. Not surprisingly, it fell down with that kind of attention. So, I just took it down. Then Ben spent every minute he could yesterday going up and down the stairs. He's good at it and is only scary when he tries to do new things (which is generally when he knows you're watching). So, we'll have a couple tough weeks, I think and then the stairs should lose their novelty. But, it was tough for the last week or so anyway with the focus on the gate.
